About Project Ghost
Project Ghost is an upcoming MMORPG by Fantastic Pixel Castle, a studio founded by Greg Street. The team has many industry veterans with backgrounds in World of Warcraft, Riot Games and Guild Wars, to name a few.
Fantastic Pixel Castle is taking an open development approach to their game. They have a podcast, Word on the Street, where the team shares insights to not only Project Ghost but also broader topics in game development. From design philosophy to production challenges. They also have a shorter series called Ghost Stories, where they answer focused questions from the community. This gives fans a glimpse into the creative process as the game takes shape and allows for viewers to give feedback early on.
The goal of this site is just to be used as a reference hub for everything currently known about Project Ghost.
Frequently Asked Questions
As this game is still early in development, information is likely to change. I'll try to keep this up to date.
General
As of the start of 2025, Project Ghost is in Pre-Production.
Too soon to say.
There is currently no way to apply to test. However, they have said before to keep an eye on social media for when they do decide to start testing.
Currently they have talked about a Buy-to-Play (B2P) model. You would buy the game upfront and gain full access without the need for a recurring subscription. They have also mentioned cosmetics and buying expansions later down the line but this is still currently being decided.
Open development is a style where developers share the game’s progress, design decisions, and internal builds with the public while the game is still being made. In contrast, traditional development keeps most of these choices hidden until much later in production.
In Fantastic Pixel Castle’s case, this transparency comes through monthly dev podcasts, blogs, and livestreams showcasing their current build. It also allows the community to give feedback now while things are being worked on instead of when they are already finished.
PC is confirmed but in the podcast episode Word on the Street 14 - Big Progress Episode! they talked about having it on consoles eventually and it's just a matter of when.

Unreal Engine 5.
No. There will be servers behind the scenes, but from what they’ve said so far, you won’t have to pick one. The game will automatically connect you to the best available server for your location, but you’ll still be able to play with players from different regions or locations without restrictions.
Red Zones will be more like your typical MMO zones. You'll see other players, there will be quests and events to do around the map, etc.
Blue Zones are randomly generated, instanced zones for solo or group play.
Yellow Zones will be the city hub.
Yes. From what they talked about, it seems like it will be tied into Blue Zones. If you find a Blue Zone you like, you can keep it and set that as your 'home shard' and build it up.
Yes.
From what it sounds like so far, everyone will have their own airship which they will be able to customise. This will be used to get to the Blue Zones. As for Red Zone mounts, it is undecided yet.
Yes. They haven't talked about how it would take shape but they did say they were playing around with the idea of PvP Blue Zones for people who want to PvP.
Races
In the unofficial Discord, they talked about having ~4 at launch, with more to be added post-launch and possibly tied to story moments.
They have announced: Kisuan on a recent Q&A livestream.
They are also planning to add humans.
No, they feel like races should be picked for player expression or roleplaying reasons. Their comments on this can be found in a Q&A they did.
Classes
They are aiming for between 20-30 at launch.
It won't be a Hero Collector. You'll get to pick the race, class and have the usual character customization options in an MMORPG.
Dreamblade as well as a livestream going a bit more in depth.
Songbird (Healer) and Tempest (Damage) have also been announced and talked about in Word on the Street 19 - Getting Classy.
Currently they have talked about having the holy trinity of Tank, Healer & DPS. However they are open to playing around with other ideas and roles for classes.
